Meet the EARnimals - a new family of whimsical, cartoon faces that attach to otoscopes and help make ear exams less scary for kids. Birds, frogs, mice, even fish become part of the device so that the instrument's pointed tip looks like an elephant's trunk, or an animal's nose or beak. EARnimals transform an alarming medical instrument into a friendly puppet-like creature.
EARnimal Training
We train EARnimals to help give gentle, painless and non-threatening ear exams. We teach them to befriendly, curious about ears, and soothing to frightened children. And we exercise them, too, using our line of lightweight, inexpensive otoscopes/Earscopes. And when they are done exercising, EARnimals like toplay as finger puppets.
A Fond Attachment
EARnimals have evolved into three species to fit most otoscopes: Small Hole EARnimals, Medium Hole EARnimals, and Large Hole EARnimals. Each species prefers different otoscopes and becomes upset if not properly attached. See the EARnimal Zoo for details.
They are fond of two NOTOCO models:
- Earscope for home use (Model #1202)
Includes 3 tips (3,4,5 mm) and a basic handbook for home monitoring of ear problems.
- PocketOtoscope for professionals (Model #1205)
Comes with 4 tips plus an adapter that fit common disposable tips.
EARnimal Reading Habits
EARnimals favorite reading is the book, EARS, An Owners Manual, by Rod Moser, PA, Ph.D. It empowers parents by explaining how to conduct home ear exams, ways to prevent ear infections, alternatives to drugs, and much more. Many color photos, 128 pages, paperback.
